The Treasurer's Office provides services related to Motor Vehicles and Taxes for Douglas County, Kansas.

The Treasurer’s Office's downtown and South Lawrence location are open to walk-in public traffic. 

Please Note: There is a $3.00 fee per motor vehicle transaction at all locations. This does not apply to tax payments. All offices accept credit cards, there is a service fee of 2.35%.

Adam Rains

Adam has worked for Douglas County since 2013 and enjoys providing service to his community.  He completed the Certified Public Manager Program through the University of Kansas in 2015, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Management from Ottawa University in 2018. In May 2020, he completed his Master of Public Administration degree from The University of Kansas.  

Adam holds a Level-2 certification through the Kansas County Treasurers Association (KCTA). He is also an active member of the Kansas Government Financial Officers Association (KSGFOA).
