Commission recognizes Douglas County Youth Entrepreneurship Competition Winners

DOUGLAS COUNTY YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP COMPETITION
 APRIL 4, 2018

WHEREAS, Douglas County hosted the first annual Youth Entrepreneurship Competition on March 2, 2018 at Baker University in Baldwin City; and 
WHEREAS, the goal of the Youth Entrepreneurship Competition is to expose Douglas County high school students to entrepreneurship; and
WHEREAS, Douglas County is one of 61 E-Communities across the state of Kansas, partnered with Network Kansas to assist local entrepreneurs with access to capital, increase connectivity to resources available to assist entrepreneurs and small businesses, and initiate activities to generate entrepreneurial development; and

WHEREAS, Douglas County is one of many communities across Kansas to host a locally organized event designed to give 9 Douglas County high school students with a hands-on entrepreneurship experience; and

WHEREAS, the annual Youth Entrepreneurship Competition will culminate in a statewide championship on April 24, 2018 at Kansas State University, where top students from each local competition, including Douglas County, will contend against one another for top prizes and other honors; and

NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of County Commissioners of Douglas County, Kansas, recognizes Douglas County’s 2018 Youth Entrepreneurship Competition participants and winners, as well as the dedicated teachers, mentors, and judges that supported this unique opportunity for Douglas County’s young entrepreneurs.
