The Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council will host a workshop for property owners interested in listing historic buildings or historic sites on the STATE REGISTER OR THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES. This workshop may be of interest to those who own historic homes or business buildings, such as a historic barn, or those who have interest in listing a farmstead or historic church, school, or a public building. Buildings listed on the State or National Registers may be eligible for state tax credits that can be used to offset restoration expenses.
The workshop is free and will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Public Library, Meeting Room C. The library is located at 707 Vermont Street in Lawrence, Kansas.
Guest presenter, Amanda Loughlin, National Register Coordinator for the State of Kansas, will provide insights on how to research properties and how to complete nomination forms.
Pre-registration is required by October 31, 2017. To register contact the Douglas County Heritage Office at 785-330-2878 or send an email including your name and contact information to: firstname.lastname@example.org
