Emergencies and Public Safety

CFD #1 is a combination department that serves approx. 228 sq. miles of Douglas County, KS.

Palmyra Fire District #2 is a volunteer fire district established in 2015. It serves approximately 80 square miles in the southeast corner of Douglas County.

Established in 1994, Emergency Communications' primary mission is to serve the citizens of Douglas County, including the cities of Baldwin, Eudora and Lawrence, by acting as a communications link between the citizen who needs an emergency service response and those law enforcement, fire, and medical response agencies who provide such services.

Emergency Management provides a comprehensive emergency management program to effectively mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from all types of major emergencies or disasters; and to educate and train Douglas County citizens, responders, and governing officials so that a disaster’s impact on people, property, and communities is minimized.
