Route 458 from E 800 Road to just north of N 1156 Road will open to motor vehicle traffic through construction by 8:00 PM, Friday, April 27. The full road closure that has been in place between N 1050 Road and N 1116 Road has been removed. Bicycle traffic is still prohibited throughout the project length. Side roads N 1075 Road and E 1135 Road have also been opened to traffic.
Douglas County’s contractor, King’s Construction, has completed construction of two large culverts near the Route 458/N 1075 intersection. The remainder of the project construction work will consist of shoulder construction and paving operations for the duration of the project. During this work, two narrow (11’-wide) traffic lanes, one for each traffic direction, will be open through much of the project length. Some construction areas may have one lane temporarily closed with traffic controlled by flaggers. A work zone 35-mph speed limit will be in effect. The entire project is anticipated to be completed in June 2018, weather permitting.
Additional project information can be found on the project’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Route458/
This construction project is funded by Douglas County’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The Board of County Commissioners awarded the construction contract to King’s Construction, who submitted the low bid of $4,757,901.73.
