Chief Judge James McCabria announced today that the Douglas County District Court YouTube channel appears to have been well-received by the public.
“We are getting views at many of the hearings that are now being live-streamed. I’m encouraged that the public can so easily access what happens in open court,” McCabria said. “Live-streaming not only helps us balance the public health and safety factors during the present pandemic, but I’m hopeful it will continue to grow as a means for public access beyond those considerations.”
Any hearing that is open to the public in Douglas County District Court can be viewed live on its YouTube channel.
As with live hearings, recording is prohibited without court permission.
Entry to the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center, 111 E. Eleventh St., continues to be limited due to efforts to reduce spread of coronavirus. Most hearings are happening remotely. Persons who are not parties to a case or witnesses appearing to testify are not permitted to enter simply to observe judicial proceedings.
