The Douglas County Commission recently received a resignation letter from the Trustee of Palmyra Township, and it is the responsibility of the Commissioners to appoint a replacement. The responsibilities of the township trustee are set out in in Article 3 of KSA Chapter 80.
The County Commission is seeking applicants from residents of Palmyra Township to serve as the trustee until January of 2019. A special election to elect a replacement to complete the term will occur in November of 2018. Persons interested in being considered for this position should submit a letter or e-mail expressing their interest in the position by June 23 at 5 pm. The County Commission hopes to appoint the replacement at their regular meeting on June 28.
The letter should include a summary of the applicant’s experience with budget, employee management, communication skills, conflict management, and/or any experience or training that might be related to the responsibilities of a township trustee.
