For voters who requested a mail-in ballot, they can be returned by mail OR by dropping them off in a ballot box or at any advance voting location. If a voter decides to vote in-person after the ballot is mailed, the law requires that vote to be a provisional ballot which protects against a possible double vote. The provisional ballot will count as long as no other ballot is returned by the Friday after the election (Nov. 6), which is the last date ballots with postmarks can be returned.

Voters can track the delivery and receipt of mail-in ballots using Ballot Scout. They will be able to view the status of their voted ballot as being mailed, in transit or delivered. Voters can also opt-in to real-time messaging, and receive text or email notifications to track their ballot’s journey and know it has been safely received by the Douglas County Clerk’s Office. A voter who returns their ballot in a drop box can also use the Ballot Scout tool to verify their ballot was received.
