One mile section of Route 458 reopened due to wet conditions

Friday, May 10, 2019 - 4:12pm

Due to the recent rain and wet conditions, Douglas County Public Works has temporarily reopened Route 458 to traffic from East 1900 Road to East 2000 Road. Barricades have been removed and traffic can proceed through the project. Detour and road closed signs will be removed or covered on Monday, May 13.

As soon as conditions improve, the one-mile section will again be closed to traffic for the resumption of construction project activities. Closure likely will happen with short notice. A detour will be re-established following Route 1057 (East 1900 Road), Route 460 (North 700 Road), and Route 1061 (East 2200 Road).

The project involves construction of safety improvements including replacing narrow culverts, flattening roadside slopes near those culverts, removing trees from the right-of-way, and pavement rehabilitation. Remaining work includes completing ditch grading in some locations, pavement rehabilitation between East 1900 Road and East 2000 Road, asphalt surfacing on residential entrances, and permanent seeding.

We appreciate your patience with this project.
